What A Day!

Ok, so yesterday wasn’t exactly my shining moment as a mother. It was Zeke’s preschool program yesterday and I completely forgot! Dave drove Zeke to preschool yesterday, and was surprised to see a large group of people standing in the foyer of the church that serves as Zeke’s preschool. As he zoomed back to campus (yes, he broke the speed limit) he called on his cell phone.

“Get ready,” he said, “I’m coming to pick you and Noah up. It’s Zeke’s program today.”

“What?!” I exclaimed, “It is?”

Well, to make a long story short, we arrived five minutes late, and there was no harm done. Except to my pride, of course. Oh dear, honestly, sometimes I feel so inadequate! And truth be told, I really am – I’m thankful for the grace of the Lord, which covers my shortcomings!

Anyway, if I may speak in my own defence, Dave invited 15 people over for supper last night, so I was a little preoccupied! It’s difficlult to get my house in some semblance of order with three young boys running around, and it also takes a lot of mental preparation on my part. As an introvert married to an extrovert I’m definitely forced out of my comfort zone a lot. It’s good for me.

Here’s a photo from last night. All the seats were taken by the grown-ups, and after serving up my boys’ supper I wondered, “Where are they going to sit?” They needed to be out of the way while everyone else served themselves, so this is where they ended up – under the table! They thought it was great fun!
