I'm Glad I Don't Have A Minnesotan Accent…

07 Sep

We had some doubts about giving Noah the name Noah. The biggest one was that his name is actually Minnesotan for “no”. If you’ve ever seen the movie Fargo, then you’ll know what I mean, otherwise you’ll have to take my word for it.

Anyway, the word “no” has been paired with Noah’s name a lot as of late. Just in the last couple weeks he’s turned into an absolute stunt devil!

His Aunt Renee very approprietly gave him this shirt for his first birthday. It says, “I do all my own stunts” and if he’s not standing proudly in the middle of the table – as he is here – he’s teetering on the edge of our computer desk and banging on the keyboard, using our long, narrow coffee table as a balance beam, or jumping off the sofa. He’s a wild man! But a very cute wild man.

That’s really funny because Josiah has JUST started saying “No” like a Minnesotan – “No-ah” We have been laughing at the way he say’s it (because no one else in our house say’s it that way) I didn’t put two and two together until you called it a minnesotan accent – and then I realized Josiah probably picked up “no-ah” from his minnesotan grandparents and aunts and uncles.

ps. i love Noah’s shirt – very cute!!

Ah yes, that lovely Minnesotan accent… I’m still waiting and wondering if my kids will pick it up. So far we’re safe, but I’ve noticed it’s especially prevelant among adolecents.

There are many days that I, too, am just hoping for Maclean’s survival. He is such a risk-taker without the knowledge that he is in a dangerous situation. His favorites: ANYTHING to do with the stove/oven, opening/climbing on the dishwasher (with the hot water running, too), the “classic” dancing on the table, pushing the chairs to anywhere (especially the sink, and getting everything soaked), and eating/spilling/carrying the dog’s food. Yes, the kitchen is not my friend anymore. It is so difficult to do my jobs because I don’t want Mac to get injured. This stage is so frusturating at times…but, it is balanced by Maclean being so darn cute!!! It makes my memory forget the trama, thankfully.

I miss you guys. Aidan started K yesterday. Seems to be going well, but I feel disoriented with just one kid here. I think it will take a week or so for me to find my bearings.

Hey, can you let Dave know that he forgot to drop off the memory card? Maybe he could just stick it in an envelope and send it (if that is safe).

    I love you all,
    Debie

Yeah, I’ll make sure Dave knows about the memory card. Hey, who are ya rootin’ for to win BB?

Erika…I guess, but I don’t really think either of them deserve to win.  And I sure hope Janelle wins the extra $25,000!
