Some friends of ours are adopting a little boy from China. They already have three boys (we have a lot of friends with three boys!) and had actually set out to adopt a girl, but in their search, they fell in love with a picture of a little boy with a cleft lip, and are now just weeks away (hopefully) from going to get him.
Anyway, last night they had a Barn Dance for a fundraiser, and I think it was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life! …Well, at least the most fun I’ve had in a while! We took a few pictures, but they in no way capture the mood of the party. It was just so…ummm…gleefull. Yes, gleefull is the perfect word to describe it! If you ever get a chance to square dance, and don’t want to, because you think it’s dorky, keep in mind that it’s loads of fun too!

Here is Heather (the “adopter”), with the “caller” – he’s the guy that gave the intructions for the square dance. He’s showing us how to do the “side swing”. I think that’s what it was called.

And here are Dave and I… I can’t remember what this move was called. It was perfect weather for a Barn Dance too! Just a little nippy – I love fall in Minnesota!
We can’t wait to meet you Shun Li!

As a square-dance lesson alumnus, I can corroborate the Horsman assertion that square-dancing is “loads of fun.” Even more so if you have the huge sticking-out swirly skirt. (Call me if you need a loaner!)

You certainly do look gleeful. I’ve come to realize that most dorky things are fun.

Hi Heather,
It really was great time! Hey, what is the first name that you are giving Shun Li? I couldn’t remember it.
