As much as Zeke misses Elijah during the school week, I think he’s really starting to revel in the fact that Noah follows him around, and copies everything he does. It’s a whole new world for him! Imagine being (willingly) bossed around by your older brother forever, and then finding oneself left with a little admirer ready to do your bidding! They are very cute, and the friendship that I see growing between them is precious. Honestly, I didn’t expect it – I thought the age difference between them was too great (that’s why we planned a fourth…so that Noah could have a sibling as close in age as Elijah and Zeke have) – but I’m very thankful for it!

Here they are this morning playing with their Thomas trains. Before this, Noah watched Zeke build a contraption with Duplo (while successfully stacking some blocks together himself), and after, he followed him out to the table to watch him play with Play Dough (no Play Dough for Noah though…he eats it).
P.S. Notice the dirty sock behind Noah’s head? For some reason, my house always has boys’ dirty socks (including Dave’s!) lying around. I mean, I do pick them up… but why must boys, in particular, remove their socks in the middle of the day, and then leave them wherever they happen to be at the time? It’s my current pet peeve.

That’s great that Zeke and Noah are playing together so well. It’s a real blessing to have a good relationship with your siblings.
I have to confess I have a pile of quasi-dirty socks by my door. I’ll put them on in the morning, and then on my way out decide it’s still warm enough for sandals. At that point, I just take ‘em off and leave ‘em at the front door. It seems to take a really long time for them to make the return trip to the hamper. I think I’m hoping the process will work in reverse: I’ll make it to the door in bare feet and decide I need a pair of socks, and voila! There will be a pile ready to choose from. Maybe with your boys it’s like a squirrel hiding nuts thing: you never know when you might just need a pair of socks, and if so, there they’ll be, right next to the sofa!

We also have a sock infestation in our house. It’s nearly impossible to snap a picture that includes the floor without one or more of the following in the frame: little socks, big socks, blankets, miscellaneous paper scraps, measuring cups. or hangers. Sometimes I suspect that moving them causes spontaneous regeneration.

Ahhh…good, I’m not alone. Let’s form an internet support group.

And, to think that I just thought that the sock thing was a quirk about Aidan. He’s normal after all…
