Beautiful Boy

12 Nov

Have you ever seen eyes bluer than that?

I thought I had found a kindred spirit the other day at Target when a lady told me I had a “beautiful baby.”  I often use the word beautiful to describe my boys…why should only girls get to be beautiful?  But it turns out she thought Noah was a girl.  She said something to Noah, he answered back in gibberish, and she walked away saying, “What a sweet little girl!”  I guess maybe it’s time for a haircut.

Funny Jan! Everyone thought Isaac was a girl too…he has a hair cut now and he looks quite little boyish but we haven’t been on an outing to test it out yet. Of course I always found he looked like a boy in his navy blue sneakers, jeans, tractor t-shirt and army green jacket….but I guess that didn’t give it away either.

Hope your having fun with the Horsmans!
    Hugs,

    Hey Janet,

I think baby boys are beautiful too. It’s not a matter of curls or dresses or little bows, it’s in their big clear eyes, smooth rosy cheeks and complete open heartedness. Once they start pretending to be tractors and Swamp Monsters, it’s time to stop calling them beautiful (you can still think it though) – but while they’re babies, girls shouldn’t have exclusive rights to being called beautiful.

I totally agree, you are probably right Janice, but I still tell my older boys that they are beautiful too! Just last night, when Elijah brought home his school pictures, I exclaimed, “They’re beautiful, Elijah!” He didn’t bat an eyelash and it doesn’t seem to bother either Elijah or Zeke. I guess they just think it’s normal, since I say it(?) Maybe I should make a concentrated effort to stop though…I can just see Elijah coming home from middle school some day with a black eye because he used the word beautiful to describe one of his friends!
