I opted to drive Elijah to school today, instead of sending him on the bus. For the past little while, we’ve been working very diligently on his “Fabulous First Grader” project (which you see pictured below), and I had visions of him forgetting it on the bus, and then getting a call from a sobbing Elijah, begging me to go find it. I figured the former – although it meant getting all three kids bundled up and piled into the van – would be the least work!

It was great fun putting it all together! Each photo on the poster is from a different year of his life, and then he wanted to color some Transformers (since ”I love both coloring and Transformers.” he said) to decorate the rest. And you can’t see this in the photo, but all around the
perimiter of the poster we wrote his favorite things…things like his favorite food (pizza), favorite day of the week (Saturday), and so on. He also wrote a little autobiography, brought in something that is special to him – a medal that he got from playing tee-ball last summer – and his favorite book. He chose The Monster at the End of This Book. (Which, by the way, is my favorite book too…I may have influenced his decision…a little.)
What a great project! Well done, Elijah. I really really really like to read ‘The Monster at the end of this Book’ too.
we love the monster at the end of the book too :O) and I am quite taken with transformers too…but Rob said Isaac is too little to get them for Christmas this year!
hugs!

Elijah, Monster at the end of this book is my favorite too! I loved looking at your project and I agree with Mommy you are fabluous and beautiful along with it!
Love you Elijah, I am so proud of you. Your Auntie Darlene
Reminds me of Judy’s “Me Collage” from the book Judy Moody (was in a mood. not a good mood. a bad mood), which is hilarious! We just finished it yesterday. On the day her Me Collage is due, it’s raining, so her dad offers to bring it in the car so she can take the bus without mishaps… but it doesn’t quite make it unscathed! Glad Elijah’s project got to school safe and sound.
P.S. I’ll join the crowd and say that I also love The Monster at the End of This Book!
