Here’s a cute photo of Elijah and Zeke with their cousin Claire. Last night they went to the Underwater Adventures Aquarium with Grammie and Grampie Horsman. Fun was had by all.
But this morning, Elijah’s face did not reflect the fun of last night! With a scowl, he said, “Do I have the Chicken Pox?” One glace at his back was proof enough that he most certainly does! A few days ago, a notice came home in Elijah’s backpack about a case of the virus being identified in his class. But since Zeke had it when he was a toddler, and Elijah didn’t come down with it at that time, we thought he was immune! Wierd!
Anyway, now we have to figure out what to do about the birthday party. I guess we’ll have to call around, and let parents decide…I suspect most kids have had the vaccine! I guess above all I should be thankful that he did finally get the virus. I friend of mine eluded the virus until she was eight-teen, and then she was a very sick girl!
P.S. I’m curious…did everyone out there with kids have them vaccinated?

I did have all my kids vaccinated (except baby elijah – not old enough yet). Isaiah got the vaccination the first year it was offered, and not as many kids were getting it. Now… I noticed when enrolling Malachi into pre-school it’s a required vaccination. Sign of the times I guess.

Hi.
We didn’t vaccinate Jeremiah as we were hoping he would get it naturally. So, we’d be tempted to come and visit so he could be exposed except that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and then we’d be making the decision for all the cousins too…
Good luck with your party plans and your sick boy. Have you had the chicken pox already?

Yes, thankfully!

Yep, both of ours have been vaccinated. Neither one caught it when Aidan had chicken pox earlier in the year, so probably vaccinated kids at your party would be fine. Parents of unvaccinated might even want their kids to get it… I’ve heard of people having “pox parties” to expose their children!

Just to let anyone who’s interested know…we decided to postpone the party. Elijah woke up with a sore throat, swollen glands and some chicken pox in his mouth this morning. So, while most parents were ok with the situation, I guess I really want Elijah to be able to enjoy his friends and the party, and it’s hard to know how he’ll feel tomorrow. I guess we’ll do it in a couple of weeks.
