My Incredible Son

000_0574 (Custom).jpg

Elijah dressed up like Dash, from the Incredibles for school on Tuesday.  Hillcrest has a “no violent or scary costumes” rule, so we feel ok about letting Elijah participate in the Halloween dress-up day.

Anyway, about my incredible son… we had our first parent-teacher conference of 1st grade tonight.  Here are some things that Mrs. Blackwood had to say about Elijah (she wrote all this stuff down for us too, that’s how I’m able to share it in detail):  He has amazing fluency while reading, and uses lots of expression.  Also, he can retell the events of a story with great accuracy.  He does awesome on number stories, and his “fact fluency” (think flash cards) in math is improving every day.  Elijah needs to work on remembering to raise his hand when he has something to say – he sometimes interrupts.  And (this is my favorite) I can tell that Elijah genuinely cares about other people’s feelings.  He has a sweet personality, and often helps children that are upset or get hurt.

We’re thankful and proud that you’re our son, Elijah!

Why Not?

Zeke is currently very interested in convertibles.  In fact, he’s saving up to buy one!

This morning, on the way to preschool, Zeke said, “Hey Mummy, is there such a thing as a convertible mini-van?”

“No Zeke, there isn’t, but I think it’s a great idea.  Maybe you should invent one!”

“Yeah,” he said, matter of factly, “I will.”

I’d buy one.
