Twenty-Eight Down, Twelve To Go

20 Mar

I’m sure all the moms out there need no explanation for this post’s title.  Anyone who’s welcomed a new baby into the world after forty long weeks of pregnancy knows the excitement and anticipation that builds as those weeks crawl by!  With the first twenty-eight weeks of my pregnancy behind me, I’m now beginning my last last trimester (yes, I really think this will be our last baby…however I believe I’ve said that during two out of three of my other pregnancies!)…only twelve weeks left!  Hooray!

To celebrate, yesterday evening, our family went out to the Cold Stone Creamery for dessert.   Oh boy…this place lives up to it’s slogan – “The Ultimate Ice Cream Experiance” - soooo yummy.   They start with “homemade” (made in small batches, I guess) ice cream, and then add your choice of mix-ins.  It’s called the “Cold Stone” because the mixing takes place on a strawberryrendesvous_sm-custom-2.gifflat, frozen granite stone.  The fruit, cake, candy or whatever you’ve chosen (I was in the mood for fruity mix-ins, so I got a “creation” called the Strawberry Banana Rendezvous, pictured to the right) gets all smooshed and – mmmm – “yummified” into the ice cream by hand – well, they use cold utensils - on the stone.  It’s kind of like a DQ Blizzard, but so much better.   OK, I have to stop…I don’t know about you all, but I’m starting to drool.

Ha ha ha Janet it was great reading your blog this morning! Jason and I just got back from a vacation where we visted my father in the States. Our last night in Tucson he took us to a Cold Stone Creamery. It was awesome! We had never tasted anything like it before. You’re right it is like a blizzard however so much better because the ice cream isn’t already melting when you get it. I think someone needs to open one of these in Moncton! Congratulations on being in your last trimester, how exciting!

Oh how funny! That’s great. I have to ask you…what did you get?

Yeah, this is Anthony’s new favorite (surpassing blizzards). I really like “creations” with Heath because it is fresh and crispy and tastes so good! We’ve been slowly using up a giftcard we got from a friend. I’m surprised that it’s lasted us a number of months.

Nice to be on the tail end of the “countdown”, eh? Though, they aren’t the easiest weeks at least the “reward” is in sight….almost.

Ah yes, I do remember Anthony’s love for ice cream! Dave likes Heath (Skor bar, for my Canadian readers) in his too. Last night he the got the “Germanchokolatkake” creation, and substituted Heath for the coconut…it was very good.

Oh dear, I better stop. This is making me hungry for more. I must confess, I pretty much skipped supper last night so I could have a treat! My stomach can’t accommodate very much these days. It was ok for once, but I’d probably end up with a twelve pound baby if I indulged too often.

Twelve pounds—yikes! Did you hear about the 14-pounder that was born in Winnipeg a few weeks ago?

Speaking of Baby Horsman and this pregnancy that has been progressing so beautifully, do you realize we still haven’t seen a picture of you in all your preggers radiance?

It’s funny you mention that…because I did actually contemplate including a photo of myself with this post, but in the end I thought the image of the ice cream was much more attractive.

I suppose you’re right though…a photo is needed. Indeed, I would want to see one of someone else!

    Hi again,

I had the “germanchocolatkake”. It was so yummy. However I love Dave’s idea of substituting Heath bar. Wish I would have thought of that! Oh well it was wonderful just the same. Jason just got plain cotton candy ice cream. He’s a sucker for the cotton candy ice cream. Although the first addition is free he decided to skip the addition. He loved it and said it was the best cototn candy ice cream he has ever had. So after reading your blog last night I wanted Coldstone Creamery for dessert. However we had to settle for DQ because we don’t have one here :( I will admit that DQ sucks now after having Coldstone!!!!

PS- Bring on the pregnant picture, I’d love to see it. Great suggestion Mel!
