Fun In The Sun

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

We had a fantabulous afternoon out of doors yesterday.  Little Phoebe seems to love being outside, and I love it too, since it has a sleep inducing effect on her!  Look at our beautiful slumbering cherub…

We love her chubby cheeks!

Phoebe looks so much like her brothers!  But her one truly girly feature are her long dark eyelashes.  Most babies are actually born without eyelashes - all of my boys were.

And Miss Phoebe slept peacefully through all of this…

Such crazy boys!  Endless energy!

Some of my girlfriends had a little shower for Phoebe last week (she already has quite the wardrobe of dresses!) and everyone wrote a prayer or a little note to me and/or Phoebe.  I loved this one from my friend Michelle Hunt…

Phoebe, my prayer is that you have the perfect balance of spunk - to hold your own with your brothers - and tenderness - to be girly with your Mommy!

Amen!

The Baby Girl Has Come Home!

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

We came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and I have loved to see how the boys are interacting with her. Here’s some pictures of the last 36 hours.

The boys were beside themselves when they arrived at the hospital on Monday night. They clamored to see Phoebe and fought who could hold her, when, and for how long. I was excited to see how Zeke reacted. For quite sometime we have been asking the boys what they thought Mum was having. Though both Elijah and Zeke said, “A girl.”, Zeke was less then enthusiastic. He didn’t want a girl because he didn’t want someone in the house that played with Barbies. Well, Zeke has been the most enamored with her thus far. He wants to hold her at all times and stays close by his mother to snatch Phoebe up! 20070613web10.jpg
Zeke wore these gloves while at the hospital and he looked fabulous! 20070613web07.jpg
I think Phoebe’s nose is so cute. Janet caught me giving her an Eskimo kiss.

Here are some pictures from yesterday and today as she continues to look more and more like a girl. The pink onsies and blankies help, I think.

Noah insisted on reading her a story…

And fianlly, I can’t resist close-ups of hands and feet.

9 Short Years

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

md_lilacs-custom.jpg9 years ago today, at this time, I was in Albert County picking wild flowers with my dad. We were getting the arrangements ready for my wedding! Yes, it is hard to believe, I have been married this long, but when I see my family grow from 2 to 6 over that time it seems just about right. I am very blessed to have the wife that I do. Janet and I have known each other since we were teens and I have loved getting to know her. Just last week, while driving down the road, I shared with her a revelation that I just had about us and the different ways we think about things. When I finished sharing my new discovery she said, “Well, yeah! It took you this long to figure it out?” So even though we have known each other for 15 years there is still lots to discover and I am looking forward to it! Happy Anniversary. I love you, Janet.

lg.jpgBe praying for our friends and their little ones! We are asking for miracles! Father in heaven, even now, release the Spirit to work in these babies lives!

Here’s the press release from yesterday:
(MINNEAPOLIS, June 11, 2007)*Sextuplets born to Ryan and Brianna Morrison of St. Louis Park were admitted to Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota just after midnight.

Four boys and two girls were delivered by Cesarean section at nearby Abbott Northwestern Hospital at the end of Brianna Morrison’s 22nd week of pregnancy. Brianna Morrison is in good condition, recovering and resting comfortably at Abbott Northwestern.

The births took place between 11:23 and 11:25 p.m. Sunday.

The girls are named Lucia Rae and Cadence Alana; the boys are named Bennet Ryan, Tryg Brenton, Lincoln Sean, and Sylas Christopher.

They are in critical condition, ranging in weight from slightly less than 11 ounces to about 1 pound, 3 ounces.

Ryan Morrison offered this statement on behalf of his family: “The babies arrived sooner than we’d hoped for, but we are optimistic. Brianna is doing well. Thanks to all who are praying for our family. We are very happy to be parents.”

Ryan and Brianna Morrison understand the interest in their children; that is why they’ve chosen to share this information. Now, they turn their entire focus to each other and their children.

At the request of the family, Children’s will issue no more information until further notice.

She’s getting so old…

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Here is Phoebe at 4 hours old. Both mine and Janet’s mothers have Evelyn as their middle name. So Evelyn was always in the mix for each of our kids. Sometimes it was first and sometimes in the middle. This time it was no doubt that it was to be in the middle. She is eating really well and sleeping soundly.100_2372-custom.jpg
