The Tradition Continues…

02 Aug

These are OK once in a while, right?  We’re leaving on our vacation tomorrow… it’s evolved over the last couple of weeks from staying at home and relaxing, to going tenting at a campground near by, to going on a roadtrip in an RV!  Wooo-hooo!

When we announced our plans to the kids, Zeke said, “Then we have to get those little cereal boxes!”  This tradition stands out in Dave’s memory – being allowed to eat those little boxes of sweet cereal on camping trips - and we’ve made it a tradition on our camping trips too!

So, I guess I’d better start packing.  Neither Dave or I are “planners” …something we were told would have to change when we had kids, but we have, without a doubt, proved that theory wrong.  We’re crazy, I guess.  And let me respond to the question of, “You’re taking a newborn baby on a camping trip?  Won’t that be hard?”…Ummm, no, I think she’ll be the easiest child on this little adventure.

Speaking of our newborn,  here’s her latest “look.”  I find her looks change so much from one week to the next.  In these photos (courtesy of Auntie Ren…thank you!) I think she looks especially girly and cute… and like no one but herself…

Oh my. How sweet, especially looking over Daddy’s shoulder!

Glad to know you’re all safe.

Enjoy the camping! I think you’re right about Phoebe… we camped with Maren at three months and it was groovy.

camping.. oh what fun… must say that camping while pregnant is not the easiest. We did that a couple weeks ago and I was having a lot of pain in my joints.. on my legs that it was very hard to get up and down especially on an air mattress… I would love to go camping again but we’ll wait til next summer! So can’t wait to take my little one with us too!

She’s so cute! She kinda looks like Dave a little in those pictures. I just sent the blanket, sorry it’s late but I didn’t think it would take so long to make. (-:

We were always allowed to eat those little boxes of cereal only when we were camping too. What must have begun as convenient for parents wound up as tradition for kids! Have an awesome trip. It’s never too soon to take kids camping as far as I’m concerned.

I have fond memories of those cereal boxes too. We used to always fight over the corn pops. Have a great trip guys. Thanks for letting us crash at your house.

I completely forget about the cereal but I trust that my children remember their childhood better than I do…except the things I did and wish I could have forgotten it. Have a great time away! I always liked the times we had on PEI when you were all excited about going.

That is so funny – we had those little boxes camping too!!! I don’t remember my mom ever buying them ‘cept for camping – I didn’t know others did the same!!! It was the only time we had sugar cereals also – we loved them!
