The Alphabet of Nations

15 Feb

abcs.jpgThey Might Be Giants: Here Come the ABCs…this is our kids’ favorite CD.  Come to think of it… it’s one of my favorites too!  I think every family with kids should have it; each and every song is so contagious.  It’s educational too.  Listen to some.  Here’s a little video of Elijah singing his favorite – “The Alphabet of Nations.”  I love how serious he is about the whole thing.  (Zeke’s favorite is “E Eats Everything.” In the song E eats all the other letters except the letter Z, and then Z eats Es. Can you guess why it’s his favorite?)

P.S. Ok, so the inundation of videos didn’t quite come into fruition for this week. :) Dave’s been really busy…good busy though.  His main role here on campus is “growing” a 24/7 house of prayer.  (I’ve written about it before.)  His team just recieved an $80,000 donation to redo the prayer room!  Wow! Most of the money (I think) is going towards a new sound system, but they are also doing a bit of remodeling.  Dave and the guys on his team actually did most of the demolition and rebuilding themselves. It’s pretty impressive.

Wow, Elijah, you have a strong memory! Can you point out all those countries on a map, too? Maren is really into maps and loves to find the shapes of countries in other things, like pieces of bread that look like Bolivia.

P.S. Zeke, E Eats Everything is Malcolm’s favourite, too!

Well maybe I could point out some of them BUT NOT ALL. Oh and I think it might be hard to make Canada with bread you’d half to make all those little islands!

Thanks for the terrific video, Elijah. I have never heard the ABC’s sung like that but now I will be buying the CD for my granddaughters in Calgary, AB.
I was watching your video here at Hillside Church with your Grampie Horsman and I told him it would be great to see a music video starring Phoebe and the Prophets!! Mom and Dad could be in the video also. Costumes and props would be optional, of course! Just something to think about on a cold rainy day like today in the Maritimes.

You’re right, Canada would be a challenge with bread. She mostly sticks to continents or landlocked countries… although she found Florida last week, too.
