Noah has just discovered our CD of Robert Munsch stories, another CD (by a wonderful Canadian author!) that I think every family needs. I’m sure he’s heard it before, but just lately he’s taken a huge leap forward in cognitive developement, (I think kids must have mental growth spurts as well as physical ones, don’t you?) and it’s fun to watch him really listen to it. During one story, I saw his eyes light up with an idea…

Let It Rise
Our lightbulb science experiment was set up beside a lava lamp experiment at the Science Fair. The boys have been wanting to make them ever since.
Here’s the recipe:
-Pour water into the bottle until it is two thirds full.
-Add a few drops of food colouring to the water.
-Pour in a small quantity of oil, just enough to form a layer on top of the water.
-Sprinkle a few pinches of salt onto the oil and watch what happens.
-Keep adding salt to make your experiment last longer.
The Alphabet of Nations
They Might Be Giants: Here Come the ABCs…this is our kids’ favorite CD. Come to think of it… it’s one of my favorites too! I think every family with kids should have it; each and every song is so contagious. It’s educational too. Listen to some. Here’s a little video of Elijah singing his favorite – “The Alphabet of Nations.” I love how serious he is about the whole thing. (Zeke’s favorite is “E Eats Everything.” In the song E eats all the other letters except the letter Z, and then Z eats Es. Can you guess why it’s his favorite?)
P.S. Ok, so the inundation of videos didn’t quite come into fruition for this week.
Dave’s been really busy…good busy though. His main role here on campus is “growing” a 24/7 house of prayer. (I’ve written about it before.) His team just recieved an $80,000 donation to redo the prayer room! Wow! Most of the money (I think) is going towards a new sound system, but they are also doing a bit of remodeling. Dave and the guys on his team actually did most of the demolition and rebuilding themselves. It’s pretty impressive.
For Auntie Jill…
Our camera died!
It won’t turn on at all. Our previous Kodak camera did the very same thing, but had a bit of a longer lifespan. So, this will probably be a photoless blog for the next month or so…untill we get our tax return. (Any suggestions for a new camera?) Untill then, I’m going to try to do more videos, and learn how to edit them…or maybe I’ll just get Dave to edit them. So, prepare to be inundated with videos of my cute kids…consider yourselves warned!
Here is the first one. My sister, Jill, gave Phoebe the little dress she’s wearing in the first part of the video, and requested a photo of her in it. Enjoy…
A Romantic Skate on Christmas Day
In the late afternoon today, we set out to find a body of water to skate on. My dad bought all of us (except Phoebe) skates for Christmas. The snow was falling perfectly like a snow globe so we headed out. A parking lot pretty close to our house that was flooded served as the pond. A shovel, which some nice people let us use to clear the snow off the thin sheet of ice, was our Zamboni. And Katherine served as babysitter of the baby girl. It was a so fun as we skated! Some of us were much better than others (I only lasted 10 minutes), but this will be an afternoon that will last in our Christmas memories. This video is a snapshot of the afternoon. I love that my kids are honest, but how do you teach them to be tactful?
The Pledge of Allegiance
Our boys still have bit of Canada in them but they are certainly American through and through. Loving the red, white, and blue. Here is a great video of Zeke!

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'…
Here is a short unedited video of Phoebe as she attempts her first roll over! I was rivited to the screen as I watched this earlier today. While you’re at our YouTube page, be sure to check out some other videos of our kids displaying outstanding feats of strength and achievement.
Happy July 4th!
What a day it will be! My siblings and I will all be together for the first time in quite awhile. My sister Deb and her family arrived yesterday for a month and Janet’s mum left yesterday after being here for a month. The comings and goings this summer are happy and sad but well worth it. This is shaping up to be a very exciting summer. Phoebe is doing great and is sleeping great. Well, what I mean to say is, I am sleeping great so I can only assume that she is, as well! I had a nice time with her last night after Janet went to sleep. We watched Last Comic Standing and stared into each other’s eyes. Well, I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I can eat KFC and watch fireworks. God bless the USA!
Here is a Elijah’s directing debut all about a Soccer Ball and kids. A very heart warming story that will warm your heart.
